What is a Physical Security Assessment and why should you do it?
A Physical Security Assessment is an examination of the security defenses of a physical location. Michael Lee Security Consulting uses techniques and exploits that real-life criminals would use to simulate the results of an attack. A Physical Security Assessment helps an organization determine their level of physical security and vulnerability and identify weak elements that need to be repaired. It can aid in evaluating an organization’s detection and response capabilities and help determine whether the proper controls are in place.
We have found that most locations have vulnerabilities serious enough to allow the security to be completely compromised, but that most of these vulnerabilities can be identified through examination, addressed and corrected. For most organizations, the risks of not identifying serious security flaws are unlimited and the losses can be enormous. Unfortunately, many organizations do not use diligence on a regular basis to continuously evaluate their security status.
New exploits are discovered frequently in physical security systems, therefore all security personnel need to be continuously vigilant. A Physical Security Assessment is a valuable testing, auditing and evaluation tool. For many companies, vulnerabilities exist that they may not be aware of. In these cases, having a comprehensive audit by an outside third party, such as Michael Lee Security Consulting LLC, can provide a sense of objectivity and reliability to the analysis.
Physical Security Analysis
Michael Lee Security Consulting is focused primarily on physical security testing and assessment. Michael Lee Security Consulting conducts on site surveillance and analysis to assess potential physical security weaknesses in your infrastructure.
This can include, but is not limited to the following:
Physical Security Assessment
Access to confidential information can often be obtained by simply gaining physical access to company premises. Michael Lee Security Consulting conducts on-site surveillance to assess physical security and uses various techniques designed to gain physical entry into secure areas.
Dial-in RAS (Remote Access System) Security Assessment
Dial-in systems pose a potential threat to the integrity of any remotely accessible security system. Michael Lee Security Consulting examines dial-up connections that allow access to the system through public telephone lines or other dial-up connections. Given a range of telephone exchanges, that may include modems, Michael Lee Security Consulting can identify target numbers that allow for remote access. Using these telephone numbers, Michael Lee Security Consulting attempts to gain access to the system. Michael Lee Security Consulting can assess risks posed by the exposure of dial-up connections to the public telephone network which might undermine the client’s own internal security architecture.
Wireless Security Assessment
Open wireless access points can be used to gain information that otherwise would be impossible to obtain. Since wireless signals tend to extend beyond the walls of any location, it is important to make sure that eavesdropping on 802.11x signals can be minimized or even made impossible through the use of encryption. Michael Lee Security Consulting can analyze any existing wireless infrastructure and provide solutions for any identified security vulnerabilities.
All aforementioned services are typically performed at office buildings, schools, commercial buildings, manufacturing plants, warehouses, distribution centers, apartment complexes, multi unit housing, assisted living, motel, retail, shopping centers and malls.
We are not affiliated with any security vendor and do not sell equipment or other services. We do, however, ensure that any recommendations are adequate, cost effective, and properly planned.
Telephone Support
Following any testing assessment, telephone support is provided to answer any questions or concerns.
Training
Michael Lee Security Consulting provides training seminars to security professionals and employees with access to sensitive information to better educate them about the risks of using commonly available security technologies. These seminars are dedicated to educating anyone who is responsible for protecting material and digital assets.
